300,000 face masks through action by West Frisians

A donation by a group of entrepreneurs from Hoorn has raised 175,000 euros in a short time. With that amount they want to buy mouth masks. It costs about 1.50 euros to get one face mask to the Netherlands.

The entrepreneurs are not yet satisfied. “It is going well, but it is still not enough”, spokesman Sun Walenkamp told NU.nl.

Air over the Netherlands cleaner thanks to less traffic

The air over the Netherlands is currently much cleaner than in the same period last year. The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) concludes that the reduction in the amount of road and air traffic benefits Dutch nature.

Not only the Netherlands enjoys cleaner air: China and Italy also saw a significant decrease in air pollution due to strict corona measures.

The Red Cross receives medical devices from generous Dutch people

Red Cross warehouses are becoming increasingly full of medical devices donated by the Dutch: from masks and fireworks glasses to aprons.

KLM and Transavia welcome duped travelers

KLM and Transavia announced this week that travelers who have had their trip canceled can expect to receive a voucher for a new trip.

They can use the voucher for a year and get a refund if they do not use the ticket.

Radio stations join forces with special ‘coronatop-100’

On Thursday 2 April, Radio 538, Radio 10 and Radio Veronica will be presenting the Samen Sterk Top 100 music list simultaneously for ten hours. The music list will consist of songs “that will help listeners and empower them during the corona crisis.”

Interested parties can nominate songs via the websites of the radio stations.

SIRE starts campaign: #DASLIEF

The Ideal Advertising Foundation (SIRE) launched the #DASLIEF campaign to pay attention to initiatives by Dutch people who help fellow countrymen during the corona crisis.

SIRE would like to thank the Good Samaritans for their efforts and hopes to inspire others to do something “sweet” too.
