Good and Bad News for Coffee Lovers: Understanding the Complex Health Effects

A new scientific study revealed the “positive and negative” health effects of consuming coffee at a regular daily rate.

Coffee is one of the most consumed beverages in the world, and decades of research indicates that it often has beneficial effects, such as reducing rates of diabetes, cancer, liver disease, depression and other chronic conditions, according to the newspaper.Washington Post“.

The recent study showed that coffee has amazing effects on human physical activity levels, as it pushes people to move more and take an average of 1,000 extra steps per day.

This significant increase in activity may help explain why coffee consumption has long been associated with better health.

However, the study found some negative aspects of drinking a cup of coffee daily. The more coffee you drink, the fewer hours you sleep during the night, according to the magazine.New  England Journal of Medicine“.

The study revealed that people lost about 36 minutes of sleep a night on the days they drank coffee.

And the more coffee they drank, the fewer hours they slept, according to the study.

For healthy men and women, coffee does not cause a common type of heart disease known as “atrial premature contractions”, although some health authorities warn that this is “a side effect of drinking coffee”.

But coffee consumption can increase another type of heart palpitations, known as premature ventricular contractions, which are “fairly common and benign”.

Although these contractions are “sometimes worrisome,” most experts say they are nothing to worry about in healthy people.

The results indicate that the health effects of coffee are “complex”, it is beneficial for many people and can reduce the risk of chronic diseases and may extend your life, but it may disrupt your sleep and may cause some heart palpitations.
