“God forbid the power will allow these guys to work.” Danilov appealed to the deputies of Nikolaev because of the opening of a network of Russian supermarkets

Yesterday, June 14, Mere Development Director in Ukraine Artem Khomenko spoke about reopening of the supermarket in Nikolaev and plans to open 40 more stores throughout the country by the end of the year.

The NSDC Secretary was asked to comment on this information. He stated that this is unverified information.

“Imagine in the seventh year of the war [с Россией] the emergence of a Russian discount here? How is it even possible, these are purely provocative things. If God forbid some city government will allow these guys to work, believe me, we will have enough understanding that this is impossible. Let them be there, they have a large territory, there is where to develop. Khabarovsk, let them go there and develop discounters. If the city government gives preferences to Russian business, if we are talking about the Nikolaev City Council, they will very quickly be applied to the mayor and deputies [меры], because it cannot be done without permission, “commented Danilov.

Context:

At the end of 2020, the first Mere store was opened in Ukraine – in Nikolaev. However, the store closed soon after. Khomenko said that this was due to temporary problems with goods.

Mere’s entry into the Ukrainian market and the development of the network is handled by Allianstreydservice LLC, registered on July 18, 2019. The beneficiary of the company is the limited liability company “NSKTrade”, registered in Minsk. The ultimate beneficiary is the founder of the Russian chain of discounters “Svetofor” Sergei Schneider.

Outside of Russia, Svetofor develops under the Mere brand. Four stores of the chain operate in Germany. Mere also opens in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Serbia. The plans include Spain, France, Greece and Great Britain.
