GNR on the road to monitor seat belt use

-PUB-

The announcement was made by the guard, who, in a statement, made it known that the “RoadPol – Safety Devices” operation, which runs until Sunday, aims to improve road safety and compliance with road regulations.

The GNR recalls that the seat belt and the child restraint system “are passive safety devices for the occupants of a motor vehicle”, which are intended, in the event of a road accident, to prevent the occupants from being thrown out of the vehicle. or inside, reducing the occurrence of injuries or their severity.

The operation takes place within the scope of the European Traffic Police Network (RoadPol), an organization that was established by the traffic police in Europe, with the aim of improving road safety and compliance with road regulations.

GNR became a member of RoadPol at the end of 2021. In 2022, 20,292 violations were verified for lack or incorrect use of seat belts and child restraint systems.

SUPPORT OUR WORK. SUPPORT PROXIMITY JOURNALISM.

At a time when information is more important than ever, support regional and outreach journalism. Access to most VTM news is (still) free, but it is not free, journalism costs money and requires investment. This contribution is a way of directly supporting A Voz de Trás-os-Montes and its journalists. Our counterpart is independent and proximity journalism, but not only. It’s continuing to report despite all the confinement contingencies, without stopping for a single day.
