Glee actress Naya Rivera buried in Los Angeles | NOW

Naya Rivera was buried last Friday in her hometown of Los Angeles, according to her death certificate. The 33-year-old actress died of drowning in Lake Piru, California, earlier this month.

From the death certificate, which is in the hands of People, drowning is confirmed to be the cause of death. Rivera was buried on Friday, July 24 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.

Rivera starred in Glee the role of Santana Lopez, one of the first Latin American LGBTI series characters on American television.

The actress was found by divers on July 13, after disappearing five days earlier when she rented a boat from Lake Piru with her son.

Landlords of the boat became suspicious

When she still had not returned the boat after more than three hours, the landlords decided to look for the actress. They then found her four-year-old son Josey Dorsey sleeping, and the police were alerted.

Rivera was believed to be experiencing a violent undertow when she was swimming with her son. Police believe the actress “used all her energy to get her child back on the boat,” after which she no longer had enough energy to save herself.
