“GIFF” celebrates a quarter of a century of showing the best of national and international cinema – Eleven News

It is 25 years of enjoying and sharing the seventh art in Guanajuato.

The Guanajuato International Film Festival, better known by its acronym in English “GIFF”, celebrates a quarter of a century of bringing the best of national and international cinema to the state. In this edition, the guest country is Croatia.

This festival is recognized for being an inclusive and innovative platform for actors, filmmakers and movie lovers.

25 years ago we could not imagine it, but now that we are here it has been a very complete path and very full of adventure with the results of very beautiful and found moments”, said Sarah Hoch, director of the GIFF Festival.

As part of the inauguration, an acknowledgment was made to the actress and teacher, adriana barraza for his 50 years of artistic career. Amid applause and a festive atmosphere, the director of the Sara Hoch and Hugo Villa Festival the first actress was presented with the cross and silver medal of the UNAM Film Library.

“Thanks for considering me. Worthy of having this tribute to help me complete 50 years of career, 50 years of career where I have no choice but to truly thank my teachers from the beginning”, said the renowned actress, Adriana Barraza.

Through a video the film director, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu congratulated and recognized the talent and career of the actress.

You deserve this silver cross, it is something that I hope you feel very proud of and I applaud you a lot because I have had the privilege as director of working with you on two projects that have been wonderful experiences”, assured Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Adriana Barraza has participated in national and international films such as, Babel, The Miracle of Henry Pol and Amores Perros, film that had its premiere at this festival.

They will be able to enjoy until July 31 workshops, conferences and a lot of cinema in the three different venues of the Festival: León, San Miguel de Allende and Irapuato.
