Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) plans to merge all pension fund companies (dapen) and sharia banks owned by SOEs. This merging plan will be carried out in stages.
SOE Minister Erick Thohir said that the merger of pension funds was carried out with the aim of making the supervision of companies managing large amounts of funds easier so that there were no more problems of legal corruption in SOEs.
“And I try to dapen BUMN try to be consolidated, maybe 3-4 dapen, slowly can be thorough,” Erick said in a virtual discussion event, Thursday (2/8/2020).
While the planned merger of Islamic banks is aimed at opening wider financing options domestically. The merger will be planned in the first quarter of 2021.
“For some banks, we are also reviewing, the Islamic banks become one. God willing, next February will become one, Islamic banks Mandiri, BRI so that there are also funding options for those who believe in the Islamic business,” he added.
Several companies which are merged, such as the BUMN hospital business, will now be consolidated to one parent, namely PT Pertamina Bina Medika IHC / Pertamedika IHC. At present Pertamedika has overseen 35 SOE hospitals in Indonesia. Since he has served as Minister of SOE, Erick is eager to merge SOE companies.
Director of Pertamedika IHC Fathema Djan Rahmat said the two phases of the consolidation of state-owned hospitals are a synergy to build a strong foundation in hospital holding.
“We are committed to completing the third phase in the near future, so that later Indonesia Healthcare Corporation will become the largest network hospital in Indonesia,” Fathema said in a press release on Tuesday (6/30/2020).
Not only hospitals, state-owned plantation companies namely PT Perkebunan Nusantara I-XIV have also recently been merged into one holding with PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) as their business holding.
