German authorities have decided to close the country’s borders with France, Switzerland and Austria from Monday morning in an attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, a source familiar with the matter told AFP.
Germany intends to close its borders, as of Monday, with France, Austria and Switzerland, because of the coronavirus. The measure will take effect at 8:00 am, government sources indicate.
According to information gathered by the DPA news agency, the transport of goods between Germany and its neighbors should remain unchanged.
Commuters should also be allowed to cross borders, the sources said.
The plan was approved by the German Chancellor and the leaders of the country’s four federated states.
