The recordings of Home will be shut down until April 3. This has not yet been decided with Family. The fans should not be shocked: there are still enough episodes of both soap operas to be broadcast until April 17. The decision to stop the recordings was made by mutual agreement.
“We don’t want to take any risks and the health of the cast and crew is paramount,” says Dirk Lodewyckx, general manager TV, Streaming and Radio. “It is now very important to ensure that the spread of the coronavirus is contained as much as possible, so we are on the safe side. It goes without saying that this will also have an impact on our program schedule in the long term. We are therefore fully investigating how we should make adjustments. ”
“A daily fiction series is a very specific production,” explains VRT network manager Olivier Goris. “Cast and crew members work on different studio sets where space is limited, and interaction and physical contact between actors is inevitable in many scenes. In addition, different age generations are represented by both cast and crew. That is why we definitely want to avoid risks and we make this decision. We are not the only ones doing this in Flanders. ”
Within her fiction offer, Een also makes a decision to freeze game and fowl until April 3. The production process is different than at Home, but due to cancellations (from locations, for example), it has been decided to take a break here too. Other fiction productions of One are not in the recording phase and can therefore continue.
