Germany, the Amazon employee strike, protests also in the US

«To work well and in a healthy way». And this the slogan of the 48-hour strike reported today in Germany in six Amazon plants after between 30 and 40 colleagues were infected with the coronavirus. The union accuses Amazon of having putting profits before workers’ health.

The pandemic has significantly increased purchases on the trade giant electronic. All of us, locked in the house, have had necessary goods delivered and not by the Amazon bellboys who now, however, claim the right to security. In early June Jeff Bezos, who is considered to be one of the richest men in the world, wrote to his employees thanking them for their self-denial.

It is not the first time that the company’s employees have crossed their arms in Germany to protest low wages and working conditions.

Even workers in the United States have organized several protests to ask for more security since colleagues were not even notified when someone tested positive. Amazon in New York fired an employee Christian Small, who also urged his colleagues to ask for adequate protective measures against the coronavirus pandemic. An investigation by New York’s attorney general Letitia James has opened the case: “It is shameful that Amazon fired a worker who bravely attempted to defend his and his colleagues’ health.” At a time like this, so many New Yorkers are very concerned about their health this action is immoral and inhuman. ”

At least seven employees e-commerce companies died in the United States from Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
