The entire RATP network equipped with very high speed mobile by mobile operators

Travelers can now access very high speed mobile broadband in stations, but also in tunnels and on trains.

This service notably allows easier access to passenger information to make journeys easier and more pleasant (RATP and Via Navigo applications, RATP Twitter accounts dedicated to Traveler information…) and offers travelers the opportunity to better value the time spent in transport to make it useful. They will be able to keep in touch with their loved ones and continue to make calls, send sms, photos and access the internet while on the mobile on their operator’s mobile network.

In order to ensure this deployment in its constrained areas, RATP and the four telephone operators (Bouygues Telecom, Free Mobile, SFR, and Orange) have signed agreements and thus favor a logic of pooling of equipment.

To deploy these technologies on the whole network, RATP and the telephone operators had to manage in perfect cooperation many technical constraints with the installation of 300 km of cables, 3000 antennas and 280 technical rooms on often underground infrastructures and sometimes centenary. 321 telecom sites have been set up on the network to cover 304 underground stations (access, platforms and tunnels). Three accommodation rooms have also been created to house operator equipment outside certain stations, thus reducing space and air conditioning constraints.

RATP thus becomes the first historic transport network to offer access to 4G on its entire network.
RATP and the telephone operators will continue the improvement work in the coming years to always offer the best quality of service to travelers and meet their potentially growing usage.
