Germany spoke about the commissioning of Nord Stream 2 — UNIAN

Meanwhile, Gazprom accused Siemens of allegedly fixing no more than a quarter of the identified faults on the Nord Stream 1 turbines.

Commissioning gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 from Russia to Germany was not considered.

This was stated by the Minister of Economics of Germany Robert Habek, reports Reuters.

According to him, this step would only play into the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“That’s why, in my opinion, it would be wrong and not an option,” said Robert Habek in an interview with representatives of a glass company in the state of Thuringia.

Gazprom accuses Siemens

Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Russian company Gazprom, Vitaly Markelov, accused Siemens of having allegedly eliminated no more than a quarter of the identified malfunctions on the turbines of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline, reports TASS.

“We sent 10 letters to Siemens, Siemens eliminated no more than a quarter of the faults, for the rest, unfortunately, we did not receive constructive proposals to restore the safety and reliability of engines in accordance with all the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation,” Markelov said.

He also said that Gazprom intends to soon publish part of the business correspondence with Siemens regarding the repair of turbines for Nord Stream-1.

“I want to state that European partners accuse Gazprom of unreasonably reducing gas supplies to Europe. Quite the contrary. It is they who do not fulfill their contractual obligations to maintain compressor stations … By the way, part of our correspondence with partners will be out soon published,” he said.

In addition, Markelov added that sending a Siemens turbine from Canada to Germany instead of Russia allegedly does not comply with the terms of the contract.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Russian monopolist Gazprom said earlier that for technical reasons shut down another Siemens turbine.

In this regard, the daily throughput capacity of the Nord Stream gas pipeline will not exceed 33 million cubic meters of fuel. This is 20% of the total capacity.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that gas supplies from Russia can no longer be relied upon.

Nord Stream 2 – what is known

The Nord Stream 2 project provides for the construction and operation of two gas pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The gas pipeline passes bypassing Ukraine. On September 10, 2021, Russia announced the completion of the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. It should have been launched after certification.

On February 22, 2022, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that Germany halted the process of gas pipeline certification “Nord Stream-2”. According to him, this is a response to Russia’s decision to recognize the independence of the “LPR” and “DPR”.

On the same day, the German Foundation for Climate and Environment refused to support Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2. It was created to circumvent US sanctions in order to complete construction.

February 23 United States of America imposed sanctions against the operator of Nord Stream 2 in response to Russia’s recognition of the terrorist organizations “LNR” and “DNR”.

March 1 Nord Stream 2 operator went bankrupt in connection with the imposed Western sanctions against Russia because of its aggression against Ukraine. Bankruptcy was confirmed by the government of the Swiss canton of Zug, where Nord Stream 2 AG was registered.
