Burbock emphasized that she had just held bilateral talks with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska, during which the two sides agreed that in the current situation it is crucial to start negotiations on Albania’s and Northern Macedonia’s EU accession.
In addition, the German foreign minister noted that Serbian authorities must also support EU policies, including sanctions, if the country wants to become a member of the European Union.
“The same goes for other countries in the Western Balkans, which have made it clear these days, these weeks, that most of them see their future, their security in the European Union,” Burbock said.
“That is why they support European sanctions,” she added.
“If someone aspires to become a member of the European Union, which Serbia wants, then support for EU foreign policy and support for appropriate sanctions is crucial,” Burbock said.
