Germany does not supply Russian gas to Ukraine – GTS operator

The volume of imports from Poland to Ukraine for the whole year did not even reach the volume of the daily transit capacity to Germany through Poland, the GTS Operator recalled.

The Ukrainian gas transmission system operator has denied the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about German supplies of Russian gas to Ukraine through Poland, which allegedly increase spot prices in Europe. About it informs Center for Strategic Communications on Friday, December 24th.

According to the Operator, imports from Poland to Ukraine for the entire 2021 amounted to 77 million cubic meters of gas, which is less than the daily transit capacity through Poland to Germany (about 95 million cubic meters per day). In total, transit to Germany via Poland in 2021 amounted to more than 20 billion cubic meters.

“In other words, the volume of imports from Poland to Ukraine for the whole year did not even reach the volume of the daily transit capacity to Germany through Poland,” the GTS Operator emphasized.

Also, today, Ukraine can receive natural gas from Poland only by a virtual reverse (i.e., provided there is a gas flow from Ukraine to Poland), that is, the physical flow between Poland and Germany does not have any effect on the volume or ability to import gas to Ukraine. from Poland. In particular, for 24 days of December, the volume of gas imports to Ukraine from Poland amounted to only 5.7 million cubic meters.

The GTS Operator noted that today Gazprom has almost completely stopped transit through the Yamal gas pipeline. The unused capacity of the Yamal transit gas pipeline by Gazprom is about 75-80% in December, 90% in November.

Earlier, the head of NAK Naftogaz spoke about gas price from May 2022.
