German Woman Found Dead in Norwegian Mountains – Homicide Investigation Launched

The police found a 24-year-old German woman dead in the mountains by Falningsjøen in Tynset on Wednesday 18 October. It was then that the police informed about the case.

The woman was reported missing in Germany, and her German roommate, a 29-year-old man, was then arrested by German police.

An autopsy has been performed on the woman, and on Friday the police would not say anything about the cause of death.

The police have opened a homicide investigation into the case.

– The autopsy shows that the woman was shot twice, the first of which was fatal. She also had burns which are said to have been inflicted after she died. The woman was found in the water, says police attorney Mali Svendsen.

Relatives have been informed.

The 29-year-old man who was on holiday with the woman in Norway during the period when the woman is said to have been killed is charged in the case.

– The cooperation with the German police continues, and we have been informed that the suspect does not want to explain himself further, says Svendsen.

The Inland Police District continues to investigate the case here in Norway, including mapping the couple’s movements. They have also stated that they want tips.

On holiday

The man and woman charged with murder are said to have been on a mobile home holiday in Norway at the turn of the month between September and October.

In October, the man is said to have traveled back to Germany alone, and German police started an investigation when the woman’s family reported the woman missing.

German police have stated that the family last had contact with the woman at the end of September, and that the man allegedly claimed that he and the woman had parted ways in Sweden after an argument.

The man is said to have been arrested by German police and then explained himself.

– The man has not confessed to murder, but has told the police where the woman could be found and what injuries she should have had, police attorney Mali Svendsen has previously told NRK.

According to German police, they found the woman’s mobile phone and wallet in a room rented by the man. In addition, several weapons were found in a safe, reports NTB.

On 23 October, the police informed about the autopsy report in a press release, and told NRK that they are not available for further comments now.
