Member of Commission I DPR RI Fadli Zon insinuated President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) when to go to Sintang, West Kalimantan, to inspect the floods. The Gerindra Party rebuked Fadli Zon.
The spokesman for the Gerindra Party, Habiburokhman, said that Fadli Zon’s statement insinuating Jokowi about the Sintang flood was a personal attitude, not related to the party or the Gerindra faction in the DPR RI.
“Regarding Pak Fadli Zon’s tweet about Sintang, we need to straighten it out if the statement does not represent a faction or party,” Habiburokhman told reporters, Sunday (11/14/2021).
Gerindra apologizes if the statement Fadli Zon about the Sintang flood made it uncomfortable. Gerindra confirmed that Fadli Zon had been given a warning.
“He has been reprimanded and we also apologize when the statement caused discomfort,” said Habiburokhman.

Habiburokhman, who serves as Deputy Chairman of the Honorary Court of the DPR RI, emphasized that Gerindra cadres were indeed reprimanded if they gave incorrect statements. Habiburokhman himself admitted that he was often reprimanded if he made a mistake in public speaking.
“As Gerindra cadres, it is normal for us to be reprimanded if there are statements that are not correct. I myself as the Party Spokesperson are often reprimanded, as well as other members of the DPR,” said Habiburokhman.

The flood that hit Sintang did occur for more than two weeks. The Sintang flood has not subsided and has caused thousands of houses to be submerged.
The Sintang Regency Government has extended the flood emergency response period in its area for 30 days starting from October 13 to November 16, 2021. It is recorded that more than 140 thousand residents were affected by the flood.
PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto defends Jokowi from satire Fadli Zon. PDIP, said Hasto, has already deployed its cadres to Sintang. Therefore, Fadli is considered only able to provide criticism without action.
