Concerns Ford and General Motors threw the forces of their production units to the production of mechanical ventilation devices (IVL), in connection with which the assembly of cars faded into the background. At the same time, demand for new cars decreased, and the premieres of new products are now less worried about potential buyers. Therefore, General Motors postponed scheduled updates for most of its popular models: The Detroit News reports that preparations for the production of components for restyled Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups, GMC Terrain, Chervolet Traverse and Equinox crossovers, a Chevrolet Camaro coupe, as well as Chevrolet electric cars Bolt is temporarily discontinued. It was also decided to postpone the debut of the new version of the mid-engined supercar Chevrolet Corvette C8.
However, not all work on updating the lineup will be suspended. For example, the re-equipment of the Detroit-Hamtramck plant for the production of GMC Hummer electric pickups continues as before. Deliveries of the first production copies should begin at the end of 2021. It is likely that soon such statements will be made by Ford and the Italian-American concern FCA, which also concentrated on the production of mechanical ventilation devices and protective medical masks.
