Ganjar Pity Residents Clash with Police in Purworejo: Socialization First Let Mutual Understanding Page all

SEMARANG, KOMPAS.com – Governor of Central Java Rewards Pranowo regretted the incidents of chaos between residents and officials in the village Wadas, District Bener, Regency Purworejo on Friday (23/4/2021).

Ganjar hopes that the problems that occur can be resolved by sitting together and familial.

“The socialization first will allow everyone to understand each other and be able to have a dialogue. The Regent is preparing communication with the residents. So as not to get emotional,” said Ganjar when confirmed, Saturday (24/4/2021).

Socialization efforts had been made prior to the clash between residents and security forces.

The socialization was related to the plan to set aside land for mining andesite to be used for construction materials for the Bener Dam.

“Certainly, the socialization will continue to be carried out,” he said.

For information, clashes between residents and security forces took place in Wadas Village, Bener District, Purworejo Regency, Central Java, Friday (23/4/2021).

The incident was triggered because the residents did not agree with the land lockdown regarding the andesite mining plan to be used for construction materials for the Bener Dam.

The residents refused by intercepting officers and blocking the entrance to the village by knocking down trees.

When the officers were about to break in and disperse the crowd of residents, the riot was unstoppable.

A total of 11 people were arrested by officers for questioning after the clash, but have already been sent home.

“The 11 people who were arrested yesterday (Friday) by the Purworejo Police were sent home last night at 12.00 WIB with an agreement not to do anything again,” said Head of Public Relations at the Central Java Regional Police, Kombes Iskandar Fitriana Sutisna when confirmed, Saturday (24/4 / 2021).

Iskandar claimed that the authorities had tried to urge residents not to block the road. Because the road is a public facility.

“This is a regency road. Certain community groups must not then control it and prohibit other people from crossing it. This is tantamount to disturbing public order so that it must be put in order, “he said.

Nevertheless, he ensured that the post-incident situation was conducive.

The blockaded access roads have also been cleared for the benefit of the general public in Wadas Village.

For that, he asked the public not to worry about doing activities.

“Kamtibmas is as conducive as usual and the Indonesian National Police guarantees the safety and security of the Purworejo people. Don’t be easily influenced by rumors or false news,” he explained.
