Game Boy Games we’d love to see on the Switch (this could actually happen)

With rumors about the Game Boy and Game Boy Color games hitting Nintendo’s online service, we thought it would be wise, just in case, to check our list of over 1,000 Game Boy games and see what could come of them. fact to services.

I immediately removed Pokemon, Tetris and licensed games from the list. While Pokemon games were on the 3D virtual console, there were paid versions and we don’t think they will be offered for free. Tetris is essentially a licensed game and there is also the wonderful Tetris 99 service. Licensed games are a minefield of various companies that want to get paid and that only requires one problem and so far nothing in the NSO has been authorized in NES and SNES library.

That’s what I found.

Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening / DX, Oracle of Ages / Oracle of Seasons

While Ocarina of Time and Majora Mask were getting the most attention in the early 2000s, three Zelda mobile games were just over its weight. Link’s Awakening, we all know, was revived even on the Switch in 2019 – and you’d probably be better off playing that.

However, Capcom developed by Oracle of Ages and Seasons is wonderful and has some of the most creative Zelda puzzles. Oracle of Ages makes you travel through two periods of time, affecting the past to change the future. The seasons make you manipulate the time of year to move forward, because the weather is luckier,

Both games are also interconnected. If you finish one, you can get a password to start the other and you can make it a semi-complementary continuation of any game you just finished. You can also get passwords to return items to the original game. This feature and Game Link Cable can be much easier in 2021.

Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong might be the most boring name, but you’ve probably heard of Donkey Kong ’94. This game is simply amazing and, although the debut might just seem like a Donkey Kong port on the Game Boy, it is much more than that.

DK94 is almost a continuation of the original arcade game Donkey Kong. While the first four levels are just that game, the rest of the levels play completely differently. You still control Mario and you have to take Pauline from Donkey Kong to the end, but the levels are deeper; There are objects to keep and traps to overcome. Mario can also hit, fall more, climb ropes and even swim. DK94 brings the best of Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr and other Mario platforms. If we get this, do yourself a favor and check it out. It’s Donkey Kong (character, not these games, I’m not that old yet).

Seria Donkey Kong Land / Country

The arcade-style Donkey Kong shows are great, but the Rare Donkey Kong Country series is where the popularity of big monkeys (barrels) really took off. The first three Donkey Kong Country games are already in NSO service within the SNES application, but did you know that not only did the first game receive a surprisingly good Game Boy Color port, but each of the three games also received a Game Boy sequel?

Enter the Donkey Kong Land series, three games for Game Boy that, honestly, don’t get the love and attention they deserve. Each game has its own unique enemies, all levels and new aspects reminiscent of their SNES counterparts, optimized to fit the screen of the mobile device and very fun to play.

Super Mario Land / Wario Land series

Well, why are all the Mario Land and Wario Land games together on this list? It is somewhat difficult to explain; What started out as a weird Mario game, but completely different, slowly turns into Mario Land, Mario Land 2 and then Wario Land – which of course is Mario Land 3. From there, the games are completely Wario games and take on their own identity. The original Mario Land looks in good condition and while Super Mario Land 2: The Six Gold Coins is awesome – it’s also a bit far from the feel of the Mario title. Then it makes sense that next time it’s not Mario at all, it’s Wario. From here, Wario Land Games became something of its own with two other games.

All of the above games are worth checking out, but the weird sense that Mario games had in Game Boy is more appropriate for Wario.

Game & Watch Show (Game Boy Show în Australia)

When I was a kid, Game & Watch Gallery games were my window into Nintendo’s past, “Oh, old Nintendo games,” I said. Now Game Boy games are way too many games, the fact that many will see Game Boy games as “old Nintendo games” hurts even thinking about them. But it’s good news, because despite the fact that it’s an old Nintendo game that contains old Nintendo games – everyone still claims it. If I underestimated them for what they were.

Any of the Game & Watch collections feature Game & Watch games as they were on the original hardware or have been enhanced with modern graphics, sound and game modifications. Game & Watch Gallery games are not the first examples of remakes or renovations, but they would certainly have inspired many.

Kirby’s Dream Land Series / Kirby Tilt ‘n’ Tumble

Game Boy is where the adventures of Kirby’s puffball began, with the launch of the wonderful game Kirby’s Dream Land. This iteration of Kirby was largely in the formative stage – there are no copying capabilities here – but many of the defining key features of the series, aesthetics and enemies were brought to life in this first journey on Game Boy.

Kirby will have other games on Game Boy and Game Boy Color, such as Kirby’s Dream Land 2 and Kirby’s Block Ball, but perhaps none are as unique and fun as Kirby Tilt ‘n’ Tumble. Here, I controlled Rolly Kirby using the accelerometer on my Game Boy Color basket, which could certainly be an interesting mechanic to imitate on the Switch – especially since it was not released on the Virtual Console on any platform.

Mario Tennis / Mario Golf

There’s a reason why Mario’s golf and tennis have always been compared to the original Game Boy games – because they’re so good. Although they lack the flash and super acrobatics we see in newer games, their tight mechanics and deep storytelling habits are the culmination of Camelot.

You see, before it was removed or by a glorified tutorial, the story mode in these games was heartbreaking and had a purpose – and a lot of dialogue. Well, maybe the last thing wasn’t very good. These games also have multiplayer, which was missing in the 3DS Virtual Console version. We might see this on the Switch.

picros mario

Tetris can be the most popular Game Boy game, which makes it the most popular puzzle game. The console contains many other puzzles, some of which first appeared in Game Boy.

While the Switch has hundreds of Picross games now, and the puzzle genre is very popular, it hasn’t always been the case. When Nintendo released Picross for Mario, there was no follow-up released in the West until the release of the Nintendo DS. While it has been released on the 3DS virtual console, it’s time for Mario’s Picross to shine on a bigger screen.

mole mania

Produced by little-known game developer Shigeru Miyamoto, Mole Mania is another often-forgotten puzzle game on Game Boy. So why haven’t you heard of Mole Mania? Because it was released after another game called Pokémon in Japan. In the West, the Game Boy was close to life support because the Pokémon did not take off. The Game Boy was going through a bit of a break.

Mole Mania received a release on the 3DS virtual console, so it was available from the initial release, but it needs to be mentioned again. It’s a fun puzzle game with a great soundtrack and it’s probably one of the few times a Miyamoto-led game has been stunned.

Kid Icarus: From Legends and Monsters

Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters is a sequel to the original NES. While that game was very hard and some pretty good back then, but now the old game issues, the continuation of Game Boy has fixed many of them. Although it might be a little easier, Kid Icarus here on Game Boy is still a challenge and something Switch emulators can do to restart a few things. This soundtrack pushes the small Game Boy audio chip to the limit.

Joker: Super RC Pro-Am

While the Nintendo Switch Online service may not have all the games that everyone wants, the amount of deep discounts that the service has is pretty amazing. These are games that many do not remember, left in the past without an official way to play them in the modern era.

One such game is Super RC Pro-Am, while the NES version has a new rebirth in Rare Replay on Xbox – this Game Boy version has never seen a relaunch. Not even on the Virtual Console. So while you can go over everything Microsoft rarely has, this million vendors can see the light again. In addition, if we get this, who knows what other games from the Rareware era might appear.

The game is not listed here? Not because we hate it or don’t think it will happen – there are a lot of good Game Boy games and we can actually make 10 articles like this. If I forgot your favorite, tell everyone in the comments.
