GALAXY S21: compact top-of-the-line cell phone in intermediate body | Review / Review

After checking everything that the Galaxy S21 Ultra has to offer, the time has come to analyze the cheapest model of the line. Is it worth saving or is the more complete the better deal?

As you may already know, the S21 does not have a glass finish like the rest of the line. Just as it happened in the Note 20, this one also has a plastic back. At least the matte finish makes it look like the same glass as the S21 More and it also has the benefit of being more resistant to falls.

The 120 Hz Dynamic AMOLED display delivers high brightness, great colors and impeccable fluidity. Stereo sound is better than before, not so much in sound power, but in the balance between frequencies. The exchange of the chip for the new Exynos ensured a nice leap in synthetic tests, but not in our speed test.

Battery life has grown, even if the battery is the same as before. This is thanks to the screen that now has fewer pixels and the new processor that is more economical. The charging time has not improved and there is no more charger in the box. We used the same 25W that comes with the S20 line and the S21 took more than 1 hour to recharge.

And the cameras? We have the same set as before, but the new one records slightly better photos due to the software that is more finely tuned. In daytime photos we have quality similar to the S21 Ultra with more advanced sensor, the difference is only for the sharpness of things more distant. What could be better is the night performance when shooting with portrait mode enabled.

The Galaxy S21 is a good top-of-the-line phone, but it brings little improvement compared to its predecessor. If you have the S20, it is not worth changing now. Are there better options at the same price? For more details, check out our full review via the link below.
