GAIA is a civil party against Reuzegom: “All str …

Animal rights organization GAIA will file a civil party in the case of student club Reuzegom. That reports De Morgen. The news is confirmed by GAIA chairman Michel Vandenbosch. “All, but also all, criminal offenses must be prosecuted.”

Animal rights organization GAIA has instructed its counsel to file a civil party in the case of the eighteen members of Reuzegom. “All criminal offenses must be prosecuted and punished,” says Vandenbosch. “It is our duty as an animal rights organization to act. It has been enough. ”

It is not the first time that GAIA has set its sights on the club. “In the past we also performed when members of Reuzegom shot a pig. Then the public prosecutor did not prosecute the members involved, they reached an agreement in the form of 400 euros amicable settlement. We cannot accept that now. All criminal offenses must be prosecuted. The perpetrators must be punished. ”

“The complaint is twofold,” says Vandenbosch. “One is aimed specifically against JS. He is known to throw a mouse into a blender to make shank porridge. In addition, we also file a complaint against strangers. ”

Another charge

The eighteen members will appear before the council chamber in Hasselt on September 4. He will decide whether or not the eighteen members of Reuzegom should appear before the criminal court. The public prosecutor’s office wants the men to be prosecuted for, among other things, ‘deliberately administering harmful substances with death as a result’. They risk a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. In addition to violations of the animal welfare law, members can receive an additional 6 months.

According to Vandenbosch, GAIA will communicate extensively about the case on Monday.
