In May, Gabby Petito (22) posted an Instagram post where she said that she and her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie (23), would experience the world together.
The couple was to begin the journey by crossing the United States, and Petito and his girlfriend constantly posted pictures where they kissed and posed in nature.
But, when the cameras were turned off, the couple lived according to CNN in a completely different reality.
As sunk into the ground
On September 11, Gabby Petito was reported missing, and eight days later she was found dead.
The FBI believes she was killed, and Laundrie is now sunk into the ground.
Thanks to Instagram posts, text messages and eyewitnesses, the police now have a clearer overview of how Gabby Petito’s last days were.
– Continued to beat her
On July 2, the journey began in a white van that Petito and Laundrie had converted into a motorhome.
– There is no better place than the little home we have made, she wrote on Instagram two days later, and tagged Justin Laundrie.
Gabby Petito posted photos from all the places they visited, such as Colorado Springs and Zion National Park in Utah.
On August 12, three weeks before Laundrie returned to her parents in Florida, concerned eyewitnesses alerted police and said they had seen a man beat a girl in Moab, Utah.
When police found the couple’s van, Gabby Petito was very upset.
Everything was filmed by police body cameras.
She hiccuped and said that she had had an argument with her boyfriend.
“I have obsessive thoughts and sometimes get very frustrated,” she said, explaining that Laundrie would not let her into their car.

Arguing over Gabby’s phone
In a report, police officer Daniel Scott Robbins wrote that Gabby Petito was inconsolable when she sat in the back seat of his police car, writes The Washington Post.
“At no point during my investigation did Gabrielle stop crying, breathing heavily or putting together a sentence without wiping away tears, wiping her nose or rubbing her hands on her knees,” he wrote.
In the conversations, it must have emerged that the relationship between Laundrie and Petito had become more and more strained.
– She struggled with the psyche, Robbins wrote in the report.
Sent to shelter
Police Officer Robbins wrote that he sent Gabby Petito to the Safe Haven shelter while Laundrie was given a hotel room.
The relationship was not reported.
– I asked both Brian and Gabrielle to use the time apart to calm down. I asked them to avoid contacting each other until the next morning, if possible, he wrote.
–
Gabby begged to reconsider the relationship
A National Park Service employee also rushed to the emergency room.
– I begged her (Petito, journ.anm) to reconsider the relationship, and asked her if she was happy in the relationship with him, and said that this was an opportunity for her to find another way, to make a change in life her, park ranger Melissa Hulls tells the Utah newspaper Deseret News.
Hulls says that both she and the police regret that they did not do more to get Petito away from her boyfriend.
– This was not a good day at work for anyone. We thought we made the right decision when we left them, she says.

The couple when he was arguing while they were on their way out the door, and Petito is said to have cried while Laundrie looked angry.
The latter must have walked in and out of the restaurant and been angry with the employees.
In a Facebook post, the restaurant confirms that the couple was with them, and that they have informed the FBI about this.
On the same day, Petito’s mother received a text message she describes as “strange”.

Closed doors
On the same day, August 27, the white habit was filmed by two vloggers at a campground in Spread Creek in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
This is the same place that Gabby Petito was later found dead.
– The habit was very dark, closed. It did not look like there was any activity in it, so we continued to drive, they say Fox News.
The question the FBI is now asking is whether Petito had already been killed.
Responded to message
On August 30, Gabby Petito’s family received another text message to which they responded, and which they do not believe Petito sent himself.
– No coverage in Yosemite, it said.
Then it was quiet from the New York girl.
Petito’s stepfather, Jim Schmidt, has said that it was not unusual for Gabby Petito to be quiet for a few days, but no longer than that.
– It was not uncommon for her to disappear for a few days, but she always got back to a place where she could find a WiFi connection, upload to Instagram, call, FaceTime home, he says.
When the family had not heard from her in eleven days, they sounded the alarm.
On September 1, Brian Laundrie returned home alone to his family in Florida, where he obtained a lawyer.

– Brian left Gabby in the wilderness with pig bears and wolves, while sitting safely at home. At home! Brian, how can you do this to Gabby, thundered the family in the press release they sent out on September 16th.
Laundrie’s parents eventually told the FBI they had not seen their son since Sept. 17, when he went on a trip to the huge Carlton reservation.
According to them, he did not have a mobile phone or a wallet with him.
On September 19, a body was found in Spread Creek that turned out to be Petito.

Police have combed the Carlton Reserve, but no evidence of Brian Laundrie has been found.
According to CNN, two finder’s salaries of 30,000 dollars have been issued to the person or persons who can help the police find Brian Laundrie.
