The rescue service was alerted a total of 233 times in the past 24 hours. In 76 cases, an ambulance was called. Once the rescue helicopter Christoph 38 had to be deployed within the city. Furthermore, 201 qualified patient transports were carried out. During this period, the fire brigade was called to five fire operations and to provide technical assistance in 11 cases. There were also two false alarms caused by the triggering of automatic fire alarm systems.
Apartment fire leaves one seriously injured

The fire brigade was alerted to a fire in a high-rise apartment building via the automatic fire alarm system. When the first forces arrived at the scene, thick, black smoke came from the balcony of an apartment on the fifth floor. The fire brigade uses a special tactic in the event of fires in high-rise buildings in order to initiate the rescue of people as quickly as possible and to prevent the fire from spreading. While the elevators were being secured, some of the emergency services took up firefighting from the outside using a turntable ladder. Other teams, wearing respiratory protection, went down the stairwell to the fire apartment. They found an unconscious person in the apartment and rescued them via the stairwell to the outside. The approximately 68-year-old patient received immediate medical attention and was transported to a hospital. Due to his serious injuries, he was transferred to a burns center that night. In the meantime, the fire could be extinguished with a jet pipe. The underground service and other emergency services checked the neighboring apartments for the entry of smoke gases. The toxic fire smoke was removed from the building with electric fans. A firefighter suffered circulatory problems during the operation and was transported to a hospital as a precaution. The police have opened an investigation into the cause of fire. 60 emergency services from the Albertstadt, Übigau, Striesen and Altstadt fire and rescue stations, the Johannstadt rescue station, the B service and the underground service were deployed.
Extensive fire in a truck

The fire in a truck was reported to the integrated regional control center in Dresden via the emergency call 112. A vehicle transporter, which had loaded several cars and small vans, caught fire for reasons that have yet to be determined. The driver stated that he had already noticed the fire on the freeway and therefore left the freeway immediately. When the colleagues from the directly neighboring Übigau fire and rescue station arrived at the site, the semi-trailer and four loaded vehicles were fully engulfed in flames. The driver of the vehicle was able to get to safety in time. The fire brigade secured the site and immediately carried out a comprehensive extinguishing attack. In addition to a jet pipe, a foam pipe was also used. A tank fire engine was requested to ensure that foam compound was replenished. The extinguishing success was checked with a thermal imaging camera. It was possible to prevent the flames from spreading to the rest of the vehicle and the loaded vehicles. Nobody got hurt. 24 emergency services from the Übigau fire and rescue station, the B service, the underground service and the Klotzsche district fire brigade were deployed.
