Funny start to school! The press release from the Ministry of Education takes parents and students by surprise

-The face-to-face? It will be at your own risk
– Distance learning is also possible!
-What will the classes thus defeated look like from now on?
-What about tuition fees in the private sector? Do we have to pay all, half or more or less?

The start of the school year will take place on September 7 for all levels in all public and private educational establishments as well as in foreign mission schools, said the Department of National Education, Higher Education and Scientific research in a press release. However, the latter clarified that it is indeed a distance education. “Face-to-face education” will be offered only to learners whose parents express the choice of this formula.
In other words, the presence of students in class, school, college and high school is not imperative and is left to the discretion of parents. The stake therefore seems for the National Education not to ensure a maximum of face-to-face lessons for the pupils even if they have not returned to class since the month of March and even if several teachers have stressed the importance of giving these students on the school benches since distance courses do not replace face-to-face teaching, particularly in terms of exchanges between the student and the teacher in the classroom.
“The Ministry of National Education has continued the confusion. Indeed, we no longer know whether or not we should send them to school since we do not know whether they are obliged to welcome them or not. This all the more so since the formula “Face-to-face teaching” offered only to learners whose parents express the choice does not say much “, said Mohammed Sarhan, parent of a student from Casablanca. And to continue: “Suppose that two or three parents only want their children to be physically present at school, should we open a whole class for two or three pupils? And suppose that all parents are in favor of physical presence, how do schools intend to respond to it while respecting the barrier measures? “.
Hamid Benani, another parent of a student, wonders, for his part, about the modalities of access of children to private education. “Will we be called upon to pay the same benefits as in previous years? A parent who refuses the physical presence of his child in the private school will pay the same rates as the students present? ”He asked. He added: “Won’t private schools try to play on the confusion between physical presence and distance education?”
These are all questions that remain unanswered since the press release from the supervisory department merely indicates that an integrated plan for managing the school year has been established and that its implementation will depend on the evolution of the situation. epidemiological in Morocco. He also added that changes can be expected during the year 2020-2021 of the educational programs adopted at local, provincial and regional levels. Changes that will be made in coordination with local and health authorities.
In this regard, the ministry revealed that in order to preserve the health and safety of students and of educational and administrative staff, it will put in place appropriate conditions for the application of a strict health protocol, taking into account the respect prevention and precautionary measures set by the health authorities, in particular the compulsory wearing of a mask from the fifth year of primary school, regular washing and disinfection of hands as well as respect for physical distance by reducing the number of ‘students inside the classes and the continuous sterilization of the various facilities of educational institutions. .
The statement said, moreover, that the Ministry of National Education will try, in the coming days, to inform educational staff, students, their parents as well as all citizens of the details of the processes related to the management of the school. school year 2020-2021 while announcing that the regional exams for the first year of the Baccalaureate will be postponed to a later date. What will happen to the students who are supposed to take these exams? Will they automatically move on to the second year of bac or must they wait patiently for their fate? Case to be continued.
