Fuel prices in Orlen will not change from the new year

From 1 January 2023, the VAT rate on fuel will go from 8 to 23 percent. PKN Orlen President Daniel Obajtek told RMF FM that this will not affect the increase in fuel prices at the company’s stations in Płock.

– I have already communicated several times and this message does not change: we will do everything to keep prices at the same level. This means that prices in our stations will remain at the same level, she assured.

When asked how to achieve this, if, for example, abandoning high margins, Obajtek pointed to “a few factors”, citing in this context the drop in oil prices, the strengthening of the zloty, the diversification of supply sources and merging of Orlen and Lotos.

– All this gives the effect that we have opportunities that we use to protect our market, to protect the pockets of the Poles. Today I can say with certainty that fuel in Poland is among the cheapest in Europe, thanks to this policy – she said.

Orlen runs out of oil from Russia

He announced that at the end of January, Orlen would only process 10%. of Russian oil. – Above all thanks to a prudent policy, thanks to the adaptation of our refineries to other types of oil, thanks to the establishment of many contacts, and the agreement signed with Saudi Aramco – he explained. He added that upon the merger with Orlen, “Lotos stopped processing oil from Russia.”

When asked when Płock’s company will stop importing oil from Vladimir Putin’s country, Obajtek explained that the contract with the Russians expires at the end of January and then 90% of the oil will be sold. imported oil will come from outside Russia. “We are fully prepared to get 100 percent. diversification, he said, underlining the importance of solidarity across Europe on sanctions.
