In Corona times, only healthy people are allowed demonstrate for their freedom of expression who are able to wear a mask. On Saturday morning the 133rd vigil of the Forchheim Freedom Movement was thwarted by the police because they did not accept affidavits instead of medical certificates.
It is now a familiar sight in Forchheim. Saturday and Sunday people demonstrate on the parade ground for peace and freedom with heart and mind. This Saturday it would have been the 133rd vigil since May 9, 2020. Reiner Pracht and Carola Pracht-Schäfer watched three to four buses from the police force as they began to set up the demonstration items on the parade ground. In the middle of the preparations, they were interrupted by two police officers and the employee of the public order office, because the meeting had only been approved by the public order office under conditions in accordance with the Tenth Bavarian Infection Protection Ordinance (10th BayIfSMV). The central requirement was the wearing of everyday masks that were not allowed to be made of plastic. The use of medical certificates without “the professional medical assessment of the clinical picture (diagnosis), the Latin name or the classification of the disease according to ICD 10“Were issued.
Carola Pracht-Schäfer is hard hit by the Corona measures herself. She has lost her company and is no longer able to find a job because she cannot wear a mouth and nose cover. Within four days she did not find a doctor who would issue her with a certificate according to the latest BayIfSMV. Because doctors are put under heavy pressure and fear for their approval (see linked article below). Instead, she had an affidavit that was already accepted by the police in other cities. That was not enough for the head of the Forchheim police. He argued that he could not have this insurance checked by the court until Monday. Thus, he could not allow participation in the meeting in advance. For Ms. Pracht-Schäfer, the vigil ended before it began.
Reiner Pracht had an intensive discussion with the police and the public order office, because he saw the action as discrimination against people who cannot wear a mask. Finally, it was assumed that they must be mask refusers. Reiner Pracht explained to the demo participants who had appeared in the meantime that he would not hold a vigil under these conditions. Instead of opening the meeting, he sent her out to walk into town.
That marked a sad day in Forchheim’s history: Only healthy people who are able to wear a mask are allowed to demonstrate for their freedom of expression!
