French widow (77) beheaded: ‘Police found horror scene’ | Abroad

The retired teacher was murdered in her home last Wednesday. Neighbors didn’t notice, it was her son who sounded the alarm. He lives in the Paris area and calls his mother every day. When firefighters arrived, the gate to her house and the front door were unlocked. The police quickly assumed that the murder had been committed by an acquaintance, because the teacher had opened the door for this person.

The images that her own security camera ran show how a man with a mask on and a plastic bag in his hand walked in with Evelyne on Wednesday evening. He stabbed her in the back, beat her and finally decapitated her with a huge butcher knife. The 77-year-old woman resisted her aggressor, but could not beat him.

The police discovered in her house, where traces of a serious struggle were found, that her bank card had gone missing. Her account was then monitored. On Thursday evening, someone with her took 1000 euros at an ATM in Agde, where he was filmed by a security camera. It was the same person who came by on Wednesday. He was arrested at a house in the nearby village of Vias.

Boxer turned handyman

This 51-year-old man, a former boxer, had to stop his sport after a brain haemorrhage. He has since made ends meet on small jobs with friends and acquaintances, including Evelyne K.. The man is said to have struggled since his health problems and the departure of his wife, who recently left him. He has not yet told police why he brutally murdered the retired teacher. The detectives suspect that he came to ask for money on Wednesday evening and that she refused.

Just before the commemoration of teacher Samuel Paty, who was beheaded by a jihadist on October 16, 2020, an act of terror is ruled out.
