French police officers found guilty in Théo Luhaka assault case after seven-year wait

The verdict had been awaited by Théo Luhaka for almost seven years. His attackers, three police officers, were all found guilty by the jurors of the Assize Court. With his loved ones and his many supporters, he demanded that justice be done. The peacekeeper, author of the baton blow to Théo’s anus, receives the heaviest sanction, even if the notion of permanent disability was not accepted by the court. Twelve months suspended prison sentence, he is not removed from the Police, but he is prohibited from going into the field, particularly with a weapon, for the next five years. The two others were also sentenced to three-month suspended prison sentences, with a ban on working in the field and being prohibited from being armed for two years. The Théo affair is, at the start, a banal arrest, which will completely degenerate. The police explained that the young man was struggling strongly, and that the baton blow was supposed to make him fall to the ground. The serious attack then provoked strong emotion across Seine-Saint-Denis. The Head of State, François Hollande, will even go to Théo’s bedside, to express his full support. TF1 | Report G.
