French actor Richard Berry accused of rape by one of his daughters

Paris, Feb 3 (EFE) .- French actor Richard Berry has been denounced by one of his daughters, Coline, of having been raped as a child, while he denies this “filthy accusation” and affirms that he has never had incestuous relationships neither with her nor with any of her other children.

According to several French media, the complaint for rape, sexual assault and corruption of minors by Coline Hiegel Berry, who is now 45 years old, against the actor and his former stepmother, the American singer Jeane Manson, was formalized during the month of January and last week the investigation was commissioned to the Paris Police Juvenile Brigade.

Berry, 70, has been a great figure on the French screen and on the stage for more than four decades, having played nearly 80 films (such as “L’Appat” by Bertrand Tavernier or “Une journée de merde “, by Miguel Courtois).

He has also directed six films, and is also a prolific performer on television and theater (especially in Comédie-Française classics).

Le Point magazine pointed out that the complainant, who has received the support of her mother, actress Catherine Hiegel, must give a statement in the next few days for some events that could be prescribed.

In a long message posted on social media this Tuesday, Berry denies “with all (his) strength and without ambiguity these filthy accusations”, which “although repeated a hundred times in the press or otherwise, are nothing more than a lie” .

In his message, he explains that it was seven years ago, when he announced to his family that he was going to have a child at a time when Coline was pregnant, they “reacted with extreme violence” and sent an email to his wife in then in which “for the first time” he alluded to having suffered abuse.

To try to demonstrate the inconsistency of the accusations, she points out that her daughter’s story “has evolved over time” and that, although she has tried to speak with her and has told the case to friends, psychiatrists and family members, she has not managed to understand what’s wrong.

This complaint comes in a context in which the testimony of an alleged incest committed by the renowned political scientist Olivier Duhamel, disclosed by a book published by his stepdaughter, Camille Kouchner, has served in France for many alleged victims to speak about it.

Camille Kouchner, daughter of former French minister Bernard Kouchner, recounts in “The Big Family” how Duhamel abused his twin brother Antoine as a teenager, a matter that is the subject of a judicial investigation. EFE
