French actor and director Yves Rénier, representative of Commissioner Moulin | Culture

PARIS At the age of 78, serial commissioner Moulin, actor and director Yves Rénier died. He has been portraying a television character since the 1970s.


Yves Rénier died on Friday night of Saturday of a heart attack at his home in Neuilly-sur-Seine in western Paris. The actor enjoyed immense popularity thanks to his role as Commissioner Moulin in the series of the same name, which aired from 1976 to 2008 on TF1.

He made his debut as a film actor in 1961 in one of the film adaptations of Alexander Dumas’ famous novel The Count of Monte Christo. In 1965, he acted in the successful series Belphégor alongside singer Juliette Gréco, but he only became famous in the series Commissioner Moulin, whose first episodes were made in 1976 and the last premiered in 2008. Meanwhile, Rénier also starred in several films.

A crime series about Parisian Commissioner Moulin appeared on Czechoslovak television just three years after its French premiere. Czech viewers have Rénier connected with the voice of the dubber Miroslav Moravec.

In recent years, Yves Rénier has been directing. His television film Jacqueline Sauvage, c’était lui ou moi (Jacqueline Sauvage, it’s me), inspired by the true story of a woman who shot her husband, received great critical acclaim.
