Ronnie Wood can look forward to an important British award, the “Freedom of the City of London”. It is given to people who have achieved success, recognition or fame in their work.
High distinction: “Freedom of the City of London”
The process works like this: You can receive the honorary award through a direct application, among other things. This approves the “Court of Aldermen”, so the court of the city councils. If the application is successful, one is referred to as a “Freemen”. These are recorded by the staff of the “Chamberlain of the City of London” in the Guildhall. This is also where the ceremony takes place. A certificate is then given to the recipient.
Women who receive the award are now also referred to as “Freemen”, although the historically correct name is “Free Sisters”.

Ronnie says of his new award: “As a kid, I saw the city from the canals and over the years I’ve seen it from many different perspectives. Although my career in music and art has taken me all over the world, I am never happier than when I come home to this great city where I was born. “

News from Ronnie and the Rolling Stones
Wood teamed up with Imelda May and Noel Gallagher for the single “Just One Kiss” in January. In February, Woods Rolling Stones bandmate Keith Richards hinted at new material from the longtime band after sharing a picture of himself in the studio with the caption “new music is on the horizon”.
In July 2020, the documentary “Ronnie Wood: Somebody Up There Likes Me” by director Mike Figgis about the life of Ronnie Wood was released in German cinemas. The documentary was broadcast by Arte on January 22nd, 2021.
