Passengers in Frankfurt and the surrounding area can soon look forward to parcel stations at underground stations.

Frankfurt – For customers of Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main (VGF), picking up or sending parcels should become easier in the future. VGF recently reached an agreement with Deutsche Post to make suitable areas in Frankfurt usable for parcel stations in the future, the company announced on its website. Parcel stations are then to be set up at these areas in Frankfurt.

The first thing to do is to equip the Heddernheim station in Frankfurt with a parcel station. At the Heddernheim station, the 4.20 square meter location is on the out of town platform. The parcel station is to be set up and put into operation in November.

Deutsche Post and DHL are planning a rapid expansion of the packing stations. But the project is not only met with enthusiasm – on the contrary.

Further locations could be the stations Niederursel, Wiesenau and the stations Oberursel Bahnhof, Oberursel Altstadt, Rosengärtchen, Oberursel Stadtmitte, Kupferhammer and Oberursel Hohemark. The choice of locations is closely linked to operational issues and passenger interests. The VGF wants to ensure unhindered access to the parcel stations. All other technical work is the responsibility of Deutsche Post. (marv)
