Frankfurt am Main: Traffic chaos from the start of the holiday

Just in time for the start of the holiday season, there are numerous failures in rail traffic in and around Frankfurt. The reason for this is construction sites during the summer holidays.

Anyone who commutes to Frankfurt by car or train every day must stay strong for the next few weeks, because there will be disruptions to road and rail traffic in the Main metropolis at the start of the summer holidays. The reason for this are numerous construction sites.

As of today, Monday, there will be no underground trains on lines 1, 2, 3 and 8 in Frankfurt between the Heddernheim and Dornbursch stops. The Rhein-Main Verkehrsbund (RMV) will use buses as an alternative on various routes until August 8th. There are also failures and significant impairments in the S-Bahn service.

From July 25th to 29th, the stations of the S-Bahn line S2 between Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof and Offenbach Ostbahnhof will be eliminated, and the “Offenbach Hauptbahnhof” stop will also be served. Alternatively, the S-Bahn line S1 can be used, reports the RMV. In addition, there are partial failures on the S4 line. The same applies to lines S8 and S9.

Eight-week Mainkai closure for cars and trucks

Motorists must also be patient. The Mainkai, for example, was closed for eight weeks from July 11th to September 5th. In order to relieve the city center and the district of Sachsenhausen from motorized traffic during this time, the city has drawn up a bypass concept. Accordingly, separate diversions are planned for trucks and cars. Cars should switch to the Frankfurt City Ring, the Anlagenring and the Alleenring in the north of the Main area.
