France exceeds 24,500 dead

France has recorded 218 deaths associated with covid-19 in the past 24 hours in hospitals and homes, making a total of 24,594 deaths since the pandemic began, an official source announced today.

The numbers of the advance of the virus in France were released by Jérôme Salomon, director general of Health, in a press conference.

Since March 1, 15,369 people have died in hospitals and 9,225 deaths have been reported in homes in the same period.

In France there are 25,887 people hospitalized due to covid-19 and 3,878 of these patients are in intensive care. This is the first time since the start of the pandemic that the number of critically ill patients is below 4,000 cases.

In order to prepare for the end of the confinement, the Director-General of Health will start to disclose the classification of the different French regions in green, orange and red every day in order to verify the spread of viruses in the territory.

In light of the first presentation that took place on Thursday, 09 departments were reclassified, changing from red to orange in the category of virus circulation.

However, as this data is crossed with saturation in hospitals, the French East continues to be more attacked, concentrating most of the orange and red regions.

France has recorded more than 130,000 cases since the pandemic began. More than 50,000 of the covid-19 cases that passed through the hospital were considered cured.

Globally, according to a report by the AFP news agency, the covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 224,000 deaths and infected more than 3.1 million people in 193 countries and territories.

About 890,000 patients were considered cured.
