France detects 51 cases of monkeypox, all patients are male

Case monkey pox is in the spotlight because it is increasingly spreading all over the world. French health authorities have detected 51 cases of monkeypox.

Reported AFP, Saturday (4/6), all cases of monkeypox in France suffered by men. They are aged 22 to 63 years.

Of the 51 cases, only 1 person was hospitalized. But soon, the patient was discharged.

French Health Minister Brigitte Bourguignon said monkeypox would not become an epidemic. Brigitte believes because France and a number of European countries already have a vaccine that can prevent transmission of monkeypox.

French health authorities recommend that adults be vaccinated, including health workers, if they come into contact with people infected with monkeypox.

It is known, the monkeypox case was characterized by a number of symptoms, including fever, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, fatigue and a rash like chickenpox on the hands and face.

This disease is widespread in Central and West Africa. The first case of monkeypox was detected in May.

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US) believes there are 700 cases of monkeypox globally, including 21 cases in the United States.
