Fourth wave of COVID-19 | Coronavirus Peru | Regional and local governments and private companies will be able to acquire vaccines and medicines against the coronavirus | Minsa | NMR | PERU

The Government approved and published this Tuesday the regulation that regulates the authorizations for the importation or acquisition of vaccines and medicines against the coronavirus within the framework of the provisions of Law No. 31225, which promotes the acquisition and provision of the vaccine against the coronavirus. According to Supreme Decree No. 014-2022-SApublished in the Legal Standards Bulletin of the El Peruano newspaper, this standard is intended to ensure the quality, safety and efficacy of vaccines and medicines against coronavirus, which have conditional health registration, imported or acquired by private companies, regional governments or local governments, as well as to protect the health of the people who use these products.

In that sense, Regional governments, local governments or private companies are exceptionally authorized to be able to buy the doses against COVID-19.

It should be noted that said acquisition will be carried out in coordination with the Executive Power and will be in charge of its corresponding institutional budget. Likewise, it will be developed under strict compliance with the protocols and accreditations required by the Ministry of Health (Minsa), in order to guarantee the quality in the issuance of vaccines and medicines against the virus.

What does the regulation say?

As pointed out by the regulationthe General Directorate of Medicines, Supplies and Drugs (Digemid), as the National Authority for Pharmaceutical Products, Medical Devices and Health Products (ANM), is in charge, at the national level, to issue, deny, suspend or cancel authorizations for the importation or acquisition of vaccines and medicines against the coronavirus, as well as to carry out the control and sanitary surveillance of the same.

Also, the provisions contained in said document are mandatory by applicants and holders of import or acquisition authorizations for vaccines and medicines against COVID-19.

For its part, the General Directorate of Strategic Interventions in Public Health (Dgiesp) will supervise the adequate vaccination process against COVID-19.

The norm was endorsed by the president of the republic, peter castle, and the Ministers of Economy and Finance, Oscar Grahamand Health, Jorge Lopez Pena.
