Four dead in Florida shooting: suspect is Afghanistan veteran (33) | Abroad

Sheriff Grady Judd of Polk County, the county that includes Lakeland, told a news conference on Sunday that the suspect is a 33-year veteran of the Marine Corps who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He did not know his victims and the motive for his act is unclear. “He came for a gunfight. We don’t know why,” Judd said.

Police found in one of the residences the bodies of a 40-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman holding a three-month-old baby in her arms. The 11-year-old girl was also found with multiple gunshot wounds. In the neighboring house, officers found the body of the baby’s 62-year-old grandmother.
