(CNN Spanish) – Five people with suspected coronavirus symptoms will remain in quarantine for observation at the Ramón de Lara Military Hospital of the Dominican Republic Air Force, the director of the medical center, Colonel Ramón Artiles Santamaría, reported on Thursday.
Artiles said the patients, four of them of Chinese origin and one Chilean, arrived at the International Airport of the Americas in Santo Domingo on Wednesday afternoon from Paris, France, by the airline Air France.
One of the patients was transferred to the health center, presenting symptoms such as persistent cough and respiratory distress, coronavirus symptoms, according to the director of the hospital. Artiles said that he is stable with the others admitted.
Patients should remain in quarantine for 14 to 18 days according to the protocol established by the Ministry of Public Health.
The tests performed on the patients were sent to the United States and the results are expected in five days, said the head of the hospital.
