Four army soldiers were shot and killed in the early hours of Wednesday in Bathinda, allegedly by two unidentified civilian intruders. The army has filed an FIR stating that the attackers were wearing white kurta-pyjamas and had their faces covered, one of whom had an INSAS rifle and the other had an axe. The FIR also mentioned that an INSAS rifle reported missing from the unit a few days ago is believed to have been used to carry out the killings. However, the Punjab Police are investigating the incident as fratricide, where one soldier shoots down his fellow soldiers. The army has sealed off the area and launched a search operation. There have been no apprehensions or detentions so far.
