American writer and author of the novel “Forrest Gump” Winston Groom has died at the age of 77, said the mayor of Fairhope, Alabama, Karin Wilson. Mr. Groom lived in this city. The cause of death was not specified.

Forrest Gump in 1986 became Mr. Grum’s most popular work. Its adaptation has won six Academy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards. In 1995, the writer published a sequel to The Gump and Company. Winston Groom is also known for his nonfiction books.
