Former TV chef Eric Rotte (60) passed away | Zeeland news

GRIJPSKERKE – Eric Rotte died suddenly in his hometown of Grijpskerke. He was best known in Zeeland for his role as a TV chef at Omroep Zeeland. The Zeeland cry ‘Maek ‘t mae’s nae!’, with which he concluded every broadcast, became a popular expression.




Rotte said he was averse to calm, regularity and predictability. “Whatever I do, I really go all in. Up to the hole,” he said in a 2016 PZC interview. He had numerous and varied jobs and jobs. In 1996 he opened his own restaurant in Middelburg: De Kluizenaer.

As an extension of this, a few years later he went on to present the Kookpunt program for Omroep Zeeland, in which, as a TV chef, he mainly promoted the use of regional products. Later he concentrated on the presentation of radio programs in particular.

In 2011, he decided to take a different path. He opened the Warstaal studio in Grijpskerke, where he made special products with old oak as an interior builder and furniture maker.

Eric Rotte turned 60 years old. According to Omroep Zeeland, he died of a cardiac arrest on Saturday evening.
