Former Prime Minister François Fillon sentenced to five years in prison, including two farms

The criminal court has just rendered its verdict in the case of fictitious jobs and embezzlement of public funds.

L‘ex-Prime Minister and former candidate for the French presidential, François Fillon, was sentenced this Monday to 5 years in prison, including 3 suspended, with a sentence of ineligibility of ten years.

He will also have to pay a fine of 375,000 euros.

Note that the criminal court has not issued a deposit warrant.

His wife, Penelope Fillon, for his part, was sentenced to 3 years suspended prison, 375,000 euros fine and two years of ineligibility.

The Fillon couple will also have to reimburse the sums fraudulently collected by Pénélope Fillon. He will have to jointly pay 401,000 euros.

Similarly, 679,000 euros must be paid jointly by Penelope Fillon and Marc Joulaud, former substitute for François Fillon, also convicted in this case.

The Fillon spouses have appealed against their sentences, reports the French press.
