Former NASA engineer tricks parcel thieves with glitter trap

Former NASA engineer Marc Robert loves to prank package thieves with a sequin-throwing trap. He has his own YouTube channel where he talks about his development.

This is the third version of his trap, which he is perfecting together with the actor Macaulay Culkin. The box is disguised as the Buzz headphone packaging. The name is not accidental – it was chosen in honor of the cocky brother of the protagonist “Home Alone”. Inside the trap are four smartphones with GPS and an internet connection, which are filming what is happening around them.

When someone opens the box, the mechanism inside shoots out sparkles and spray. After that, quotes from “Home Alone” are heard and the countdown begins, after which the recording of police conversations is turned on. But the device does not actually call the police, although the frightened thieves do not know about it.

Usually they try to get rid of the trap as soon as possible and throw them away. With geolocation enabled, devices are then manually assembled near trash cans.
