Former Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre Hospitalized for Stroke

Denis Coderre, former mayor of Montreal and federal minister, was hospitalized for a stroke last weekend. He announced the news himself on social networks.

In his post, the former mayor described the symptoms he has been experiencing since last Wednesday. He initially thought he had labyrinthitis, but it got worse last Saturday night when he started experiencing speech problems and numbness on the left side of his body.

He therefore decided to go to the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, where he was immediately taken care of. Doctors then diagnosed a mild stroke, which prolonged his stay in hospital. Denis Coderre wanted to thank everyone who sent him messages of support.

He also stressed the importance of sharing this information directly with his supporters, in order to avoid sensationalism in the media. Here is what he posted:
