Former Menpora Imam Nahrawi Faces Trial Verdict This Monday

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Former Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi is facing a verdict reading hearing, Monday (6/29/2020) today.

The priest is the defendant in the alleged case bribe related to the management of the Indonesian National Sports Committee grant proposal HORSES) and gratuities from a number of parties.

“Right, today Monday, according to the trial schedule is the verdict of the judges on the case on behalf of the defendant Imam Nahrawi,” Acting KPK Spokesman Ali Fikri said when confirmed, Monday morning.

Ali said, the KPK hoped the panel of judges would consider all the legal facts as explained in the juridical analysis of the KPK’s Public Prosecutor in his lawsuit.

“He then pleaded guilty to the sentence as the public prosecutor’s claim was read and submitted to the court,” Ali said.

Previously, Imam had been sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined Rp.500 million in 6 months imprisonment.

In addition to the above basic crimes, the Prosecutor also demanded that the Imam be given an additional sentence in the form of paying a replacement money of Rp 19.1 billion.

The prosecutor also demanded another additional crime for the Imam in the form of revocation of the right to be elected in a public office for five years from the time the Imam finished his basic crime.

In this case, Imam along with his personal assistant, Miftahul Ulum, were deemed proven to have received a bribe of Rp. 11.5 billion from the former Secretary General of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Ending Fuad Hamidy and former KONI Treasurer Johnny E Awuy.

Bribery It was intended that the Imam and Ulum accelerate the process of approval and disbursement of grant aid submitted by KONI to the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia for the year 2018.

Imam is also considered to have received gratuities totaling Rp 8,648,435,682 from a number of parties.

For his actions, the Imam is considered to have violated Article 12 letter a juncto Article 18 and Article 12B Paragraph (1) juncto Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Acts as amended in Act Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st Criminal Code juncto Article 65 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
