Former athlete Roelf B. wants to settle the case that revolves around dealing drugs at the Hungarian music festival Sziget. The Hungarian public prosecutor has offered him an eight-year sentence, one of his lawyers confirms after media reports.
B. was arrested together with his friend Gert-Jan N. after the police found price lists among the visitors. Large amounts of drugs were found in the men’s tent and car, including 2,700 ecstasy pills.
The pair are on trial in court in the Hungarian capital Budapest on Monday. Earlier it was announced that the judiciary had made an eight-year sentence to B. The former athlete has expressed regret. He said he wanted to help his childhood friend and was looking for adventure to escape the demands he had to meet as a top athlete.
