This year, the number of daily victims of the Russian armed forces has increased in the war against Ukraine, and at this rate, by 2025, the total number of Russian victims will exceed the mark of 500,000 people, according to the latest report on the situation on the Ukrainian fronts, according to the British military intelligence service.

According to the intelligence service, in 2023 the average daily losses of Russian personnel – killed and wounded – increased to almost 300 people per day, which is more than in 2022.

“This increase in daily losses reported by the Ukrainian side almost certainly indicates the degradation of the Russian armed forces and their transformation into a lower-quality and larger “mass army” after the “partial mobilization” of reservists in September 2022. Russia will likely need five to ten years to rebuild a cohort of highly professional and experienced units,” the intelligence service said.

Analysts indicate that if the current rate of losses continues next year, Russia’s losses – killed and wounded – will reach more than half a million by 2025.

The intelligence service recalls that the USSR lost approximately 70,000 people in the nine-year war in Afghanistan.
