Ukrainian ex-judge Nikolai Chaus was kidnapped in the capital of Moldova

The Ukrainian diplomat told his colleague that official Kiev was not involved in the kidnapping of a former judge in Moldova.

Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Moldova Dmitry Kuleba and Aureliu Chocoy held a telephone conversation, during which they discussed the abduction of the Ukrainian ex-judge Nikolai Chaus in Chisinau. About this on Wednesday, April 7, reported press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“The minister (Kuleba – ed.) Noted that Ukraine is not involved in the current situation with Nikolai Chaus, and in order to establish all its circumstances, in particular the place of stay of the former judge, he offers Moldova to create a joint working group,” the message says.

Kuleba also told his colleague that Ukrainian law enforcement officers expected that Chaus would be extradited from Moldova, and expressed the opinion that the situation with the judge was being used in order to worsen Ukrainian-Moldovan relations.

“The Ukrainian side is convinced that they are trying to use the situation to their advantage by forces that are not only not interested in further deepening Ukrainian-Moldovan cooperation, but also aim to disrupt the development of relations that is positive for both countries, strengthening the European prospects of Ukraine and Moldova,” the Ukrainian minister.

Recall about kidnapping Chaus became known on April 3. A group of unidentified armed men abducted him in the center of Chisinau. Since then, the kidnappers have not contacted the demands.
