Ford Bronco is back

Almost a quarter of a century after retiring, the Bronco comes out of the garage. Ford has officially introduced the sixth generation in the United States and offers us all the details on a 4×4 that is truly one. No presence of the term “SUV” in the press release from Ford which respected the DNA of the Bronco.

The simple basic figures prove it: 29.4 cm of ground clearance, ventral angle of 29 °, escape angle of 37.2 °, fording passage up to 85 cm in height, the Bronco is cut for everything – ground above all. Ford will also offer optional 35-inch tires for those who prefer off-roading.

This Bronco, built on a steel ladder chassis, has independent suspensions at the front and a rigid axle with helical springs at the rear. The two differentials come from Dana AdvanTEK. A stabilizer bar with hydraulic control (disengageable in all terrain to improve the travel during bridge crossings) or specific Bilstein suspensions can be checked in the options when ordering for American customers.

Under the hood, the Bronco offers two choices: an Ecoboost 2.3 of 270 hp associated with an original seven-speed manual transmission with short range, and a 2.7 V6 of 310 hp which can be connected to the Ford automatic transmission with ten reports. Hybridization point, including “micro”, under the dress of this Bronco. Ford also goes so far as to introduce two options for all-wheel drive: a classic system with electronically controlled transfer case, and a transmission (optional) with a mechanical transfer with automatic 4H range.

Ford Bronco is back

The Bronco is illustrated by a neo retro design very popular in the United States on these legendary models. The American manufacturer built the 4×4 with a special body: doors without uprights can be completely removed and stored in special covers. A configuration which then becomes similar to that of the Jeep Wrangler, the biggest enemy of the Bronco.

However, don’t expect to see this Bronco too much on our side of the Atlantic: it should be reserved for the North American market.
