Bílek was the first and most to catch it. They destroyed the house, garden and cars. They get nowhere, the only driveway is also damaged. “Here it rolled down over the terrace, we have it all destroyed,” says David Bílek. Similarly, there are dozens of families in the village.
After Saturday evening’s storm, on Sunday morning, water and mud flowed through the streets of Opatov. The locals are already tired. In just one week, water and mud from the surrounding fields swept through the village for the third time.
According to the abbots, the local farmers are responsible for everything. The fields above the village were freshly plowed, but they did not sow a sufficient strip of grass around it to hold back the large water.
The municipality will now want farmers to take further flood control measures. Maybe to dig a drainage channel around the field. They want to recover damages that are estimated at millions of crowns, according to estimates.
